I don’t tell you stories often but I feel this point is better made with my own personal experience through my own boudoir shoots! When you come to me to have your shoot done, whether in Dallas or Los Angeles or anywhere, I always recommend and even include hair and makeup in your session fee. The story below is why!
I did my first boudoir shoot about 3 1/2 years ago! I had my hair and makeup done and I remember thinking how relaxing it was to have it all done for me! I also had NO idea how to do any of it myself so it felt extra incredible to me!
Fast forward to the last year where I have done multiple shoots that I have paid for and modeled multiple times for other photographers. I have since learned how to do my own hair and makeup and am very capable of pulling off photoshoot level makeup for boudoir and underwater.

Every. Single. Shoot. I have done in the last year, I have done my own hair and makeup. Not because hair and makeup wasn’t made available but because I felt like I was being an inconvenience to them. I felt like there were other people who needed it more than I did and I didn't want to take up with their time. My pampering wasn’t as important because I could do it myself!
Oh boy, was I wrong….
Not only was it not as pampering and relaxing but I had to make sure I left approximately 2 hours extra to get ready for my shoot and HOPE that nothing happened to my hair or makeup on the way to the shoot! In some cases, I then had to make sure that I brought everything with me in case I needed to touch something up when I got there. Nothing worse than showing up and your lipstick being messed up, am I right?
To say it was stressful might be an exaggeration because I can do my hair and makeup now but it definitely wasn’t the fun and relaxing experience that I want you to have.
I recently had the chance to get my hair and makeup done and it was INCREDIBLE! It was an hour and a half of relaxing! Not looking at my phone, not worrying about anyone else, NOTHING! Just sitting there and relaxing and being pampered!
Hair and makeup isn’t just about having it done for your photos! It’s about being pampered and having a relaxing experience! It’s about the self care! It’s about YOU! And it’s SO worth it!!
